Components of a Double-Row Distribution Box
A double-row distribution box typically includes:
- Main isolator: Acts as the main switch to open or close the power supply manually.
- RCCB (Residual Current Circuit Breaker): Protects against current leakage and electric shock.
- MCBs (Miniature Circuit Breakers): Protect individual circuits from overload or short circuits.
- Neutral and Earth links: Distribute neutral and earth connections to all subcircuits.
- Busbars: Often used to organize phase and neutral connections efficiently .
Wiring Sequence
- Incoming Supply: Connect the phase and neutral lines from the energy meter to the main isolator.
- Main Isolator to RCCB: The phase line goes to the RCCB input; the neutral line connects to the neutral link.
- RCCB to MCBs: Phase lines are distributed in parallel to the MCBs. Each MCB protects a specific subcircuit.
- Neutral Distribution: Connect the neutral output from the RCCB to the neutral link, then to each subcircuit.
- Earthing: Connect the earth link to all subcircuits and ensure it is properly connected to an earth rod or pit for safety.
- Load Connections: From each MCB, connect the phase line to the respective load (lighting, sockets, or appliances). Neutral and earth lines are connected accordingly .
