How BiDi Modules Work

BiDi modules, also known as bidirectional SFP transceivers, operate using wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) technology. Each module transmits data at one wavelength while receiving data at a complementary wavelength on the same fiber strand. For example, one end may transmit at 1310 nm and receive at 1550 nm, while the other end reverses these wavelengths. Inside the module, a WDM multiplexer/demultiplexer separates and combines the signals, preventing interference and maintaining full-duplex communication .
