• Flood-prone areas: Pressurize ducts with air or nitrogen to detect leaks and ensure all entry points are sealed .
• Strain relief and proper routing: Maintain tension control to prevent fiber pullout and avoid water ingress at bends or junctions .

Maintenance and Monitoring

• Regular inspections: Check aerial and exposed routes at least twice per year for moisture damage or mechanical stress .
• OTDR testing: Detect signal loss caused by water ingress or fiber misalignment .
• Grounding for metallic-armored cables: Prevent voltage buildup and corrosion by using corrosion-resistant clamps and verifying bonding continuity .
