  • Pickup Level: The threshold of current or voltage above which the relay begins to operate. When the actuating quantity exceeds this level, the relay mechanism starts moving toward closing its contacts .
  • Operating Time: The duration from when the actuating quantity exceeds the pickup level to when the relay contacts close and send a trip signal to the circuit breaker .
  • Reset Time: The time it takes for the relay to return to its normal state after the actuating quantity falls below the reset value .
  • Trip Output: The relay's output energizes the trip coil of a circuit breaker or other interrupting device, physically isolating the faulty section .

Monitoring and Indications

  • Normal/Ready: Relay is powered and monitoring system quantities.
