India has launched its first Hollow Core Fibre single-mode optical cable, marking a major step in high-speed, low-latency optical connectivity.

STL (Sterlite Technologies Limited) has developed and launched India's first Hollow Core Fibre (HCF) cable, a type of single-mode optical fibre that guides light through an air-filled core rather than solid glass. This design allows signals to travel approximately 46% faster, significantly reducing latency and signal loss, which is critical for data centres, hyperscalers, and high-frequency transmission networks . STL's HCF cable also features a hybrid architecture combining:
